8th day of the month of Tarsakh

You are about an hour away from Saltmarsh when you see a group of refugees approaching. Upon your approach, they quickly get off the road and beg for you not to trouble or hurt them anymore. They look to Wryan's holy symbol around her neck when they say this. Celceor

address them, asking some questions. The typical who, what, where, and why of this situation. All answers are directed at Wryan.

Eventually they ask Celceor, "Is not the priestess of Cuthbert in charge?" There is some confusion over this but it is all sorted out.  Seems that the Temple of Cuthbert has a leadership position in the city of Saltmarsh. Followers of the All Father crossed the legal line giving an excuse for their extraction from the city. These refugees were allowed to leave the city to go to Cauldron. There seems to still be a resistance cell in the city. The current Bishop of Cuthbert was critically wounded and not expected to live much longer.  The officials of Cuthbert already elected a new Bishop and was expecting her to arrive soon. There was some discussion about what to do and where to do it. They talked to the guard at the gates to find out more. They had much of the story confirmed. Most businesses are closed during this `civil unrest'. The tavern was damaged during these troubling times and is relocated to an abandon warehouse.

Directions to the tavern, point of unrest, docks, and Temple of Cuthbert were received. Another round of discussion was had as to what to do. With a rather large cart that has rather large horses attached to it, they made way to the makeshift tavern first. Skwortch the goblin was hiding inside, unnoticed by the guards. At the tavern, Werkle was upset by the rather high prices for ale, "10 silver a pint!!!" rumbled through the establishment. There seemed to be plenty of off-duty militia, merchants, some dock workers, and some sea-faring folk.  Bane went up to some of the sea folk and asked about Captain Jack Mortimer. Some lengthy discussion about price commenced, with Bane spending 1 GP on two drinks for the man. When he asked for 5 GP for the information, Bane almost had a heart attack and bid him good day sir. The sailor didn't quite hear him, so Bane raised his voice, "I SAID GOOD. DAY. SIR!!!"

Upon seeing this situation, Nick approached the sailor and introduced himself. Nick is good at finding common ground with people and put the sailor, Beck, at ease. He informed Nick that Captain Jack Mortimer has been known to come to Saltmarsh from time to time. His

current scam is to offer passage away from all this inter-city turmoil to upper class families at a huge cost. He also uses purple sails.

While Beck hasn't been to the docks in a day or so, the last time he was there, so was Captain Jack Mortimer's ship, the Purple Night. All of this only cost Nick 4gp, but Nick gave 5gp.

As the party was leaving, Bane overheard a conversation being whispered in one of the corners: "Is everything ready?"…"Yeah, the new Bishop will be taken care of, they left an hour ago"…"Bah, don't be speaking titles…at least just use her name"…"Whatever, Jenya will be no more before the sun sets"… Bane didn't see who was talking.

Nick got very upset upon hearing that something bad was going to happen to Jenya. The party was torn over what to do now and discussed some options, even some options about splitting up. They wanted to catch the Purple Night before she sailed and they also wanted toensure Jenya's safety. Jenya's past acts of helping everyone, tore attheir hearts and they set off at a breakneck pace towards Cauldron.   Bane piloted the wagon and really whipped those horses into flying down the road. They passed the refugees in no time and ran into Jenya's wagon with guards. They briefly discussed the situation with Jenya, though the first words out of her mouth were about the location of the child and did the Company of the Summoned Monkey find him yet.  There were great assurances by everyone that yes they are looking for him, no they haven't found him yet, but they do have new leads. (Anyone see a theme here?)

Both wagons continued down the road and passed by the refugees without incident. Jenya's guards didn't hear Nick when he told them to stay 50 feet away from the other wagon and instead stayed close. Up ahead they saw a man holding a woman with blood all over her midsection crying for help. Bane though this was an obvious trap, stopped the wagons, and starting moving towards the left looking for anyone hidden. Fafnir, Eggo, and a guard approached the man looking to give aid. The man shouted, "I don't want a healer from Paylor (SP?), I only want a cleric of Cuthbert to heal my wife…isn't there one in your wagon?" Everyone thought this statement laughable as an attempt to ambush.

Jenya came forward to see what was going on, she was standing on the wagon driving area and looked out about 120 feet to where the man was standing with a woman in his arms. Eight magic missiles slammed into her driving her back into the wagon, severely hurt. It was on! Two groups were hidden, one on either side. Celceor quickly webbed the right group, sticking all but one of them. Bane and Fafnir went to handle business with the left group. Nick grabbed the reigns and turned Jenya's wagon around and started the escape. The fighting

quickly ended with the heroes slightly wounded. Jenya healed herself and then offered her healing skills to the party. Everyone arrived back in Saltmarsh, with Jenya biding the company to meet with her in the morning at the temple. The company of the Summoned Monkey went to the docks and discovered that one of the ships in dock is the Purple Night. The other one is the Ocean's Majesty and is currently finishing repairs. They questioned some people and found that for 1000gp you can get out of the city via Captain Jack Mortimer. It was thought that the Purple Night would leave in the morning.

Before the night ended, the party discovered where the Iron League office is located and broke into it. They found documents detailing that Captain Jack Mortimer did indeed deliver the Prince to them for the price of 1000gp and that 4 days ago, Captain Sigurd Snake Eyes left for Mar Tesaro taking Terrem Karatys with him. Everyone goesback to the `Inn'. Has anyone seen Skwortch?
