Here is a list of player characters and important NPCs who have died in my campaign(s) since 2003. Npcs are listed in italics. I honestly thought there would be more --- but these are all I have records of. If I had documentation running back earlier, I’m sure the list would be much longer. I expect this list to grow in the coming years, but these days getting together to play more than once or twice a month seems to be next to impossible; and PCs can’t die if you don’t play…
Current body count, (as of 6, 23, 2007) are 18 PCs and
7 NPCs = body count of 25!
- April 4, 2003: Lorthas the Mighty Warrior; Human Fighter (Mark M.); killed by crossbow bolt trap in Enlandin Dungeon.
- April 24, 2003: Grian the Cleric (Chris L.); tried to swim in platemail; drowned in an underground river in Enlandin Dungeon.
- April 24, 2003;
Opi the Halfling; killed by the same trap that
killed Lorthas.
- May 1, 2003: Philgo the Cleric; shot through the forehead by a goblin’s arrow (critical hit!) in The Valley of the Fu.
- May 1, 2003; Webberan of the Great North; Human Fighter: poisoned
by spiderbite while exploring the ruins of
- May 5, 2003; Kristov the
Fighter (Chris L.); devoured by Harpies in the ruins of
- May 5, 2003;
- June 2, 2003; Endor, Elf Fighter/magic-user; poisoned by Moray Vaco’s pet snakes in a goblin fortress underneath an
abandoned temple.
- August 26, 2003; Philgo the Philosopher (Dan); (not the same PC as Philgo the Cleric); burned to death by a fireball cast by an evil wizard; in a maze under a goblin fortress.
- March 08, 2004;
Rastal the Fighter; snipped into bite-sized
chunks by the pinchers of several giant crabs in the tunnels under Marsh
Hall Manor.
- March 22, 2004; Whisper (Halfling Thief); killed by a
giant spider in the
- April, 2004; Cullen De Filtch; Human Rogue (Chris L.); killed by a wave of negative energy that was released when he used his sword to shatter a mysterious glass globe in the catacombs of the ruined Temple of the Toad God outside the Village of Feldspar.
- August 30,
2004: Gaia of Feldspar (Human fighter and Paladin Initiate); killed by a
snake human hybrid in the secret entrance passage to Asthar
Rho, the Valley of the Shrines.
- October 27, 2004: Malus Thunderhammer; Dwarf Ranger (chris); Petrified by a priestess of Yth and buried in the
- August 29, 2205; Rhyneh; Human thief (Tom S.), crushed by an ogre’s hammer in the cellar’s of Castle Hydell.
- June 06, 2006; Mace Blackstar (Human Fighter), Kane (Human Monk), Wilbered the Silent (Human Cleric), Trygvie (Elven Wizard); all slain by being simultaneously pummeled by armored slinks, shot with arrows, gassed and burned by various fire spells. Only Castor Bean the Bard escaped to tell the tale…
- November 14, 2006: We-Zul; Half-orc Barbarian (Mark M.); drilled through the chest by a gnome mining automaton in Jzadirune under Cauldron.
- December 19, 2006; Pillar Grug (Dwarf fighter and tower shield user; Mark M.), Corniel the Bard (Dwarf Bard; Brook), Skylar (Human Duskblade; Al. G) and Mohag the Wanderer (NPC human rogue/fighter) all were killed in the bowels of the Malachite Hold beneath Jzadirune (beneath Cauldron) by the half-troll Kazmojen, Kaz’s pet howler, Prickles and their crew of Hobgoblins. Messy fight!
- Kletus; Elven Ranger; Killed by ghouls in a network of
underground tunnels deep beneath Cauldon. Kletus rose as
a ghoul the next day and had to be killed again by his former comrades.
