Late in the day on Torsday, Sept the 1st the adventurers had slain three troglodytes on the shore of the underground river.  They were sorely wounded and out of healing spells.  Philgo suggested that they retreat upriver and rest on one of the ledges along the river to regain spells and the group agreed.

After resting eight hours undisturbed, Philgo cast heal spells on several of his companions.  They returned to shore only to discover that the trogs who had been waiting there previously had been replaced by four more.  The lizards attacked with stone tipped javelins and stone axes but were defeated.  The party proceeded south down the tunnel, hearing a high pitched flute like sound instead of the drums they had heard earlier.  They peeped into "the cave of drums" where the flute music seemed to be coming from and discovered a three lobed cave -- the north one seemed to be lit with a red light and the shadows of two troglodytes playing flutes could be seen.  The center lobe appeared to be a storage area with crude wicker bins and the south lobe was dark.

Always eager for a fight, Kane charged into the north section and attacked the trogs.  Not to be outdone, Trygvie cast sleep into the cave.  Kane and one of the trogs were caught in the spell just as two trogs who had been resting in the south cavern entered the fray from the south.  The troglodyte flute player who had resisted the sleep spell stepped over the body of his sleeping comrade with an axe, intending to coup de grace the sleeping monk but the dwarf Malus charged in and engaged the Lizard before he could finish off the helpless Kane.

Malus finished the fight with the trogs in the north cave as Mace and Philgo fought the trogs from the south.  After all trogs were dead, the adventurers found plenty of stone javelins, some flutes and drums, bins of fish, dead rats and other food supplies but nothing of value.  The walls of the north cave were decorated with crude images of troglodytes spearing and eating humans which Mace defaced by adding drawings of avenging humans killing the troglodytes.

The party proceeded south and entered a large cavern split by a chasm over 100 feet deep that was crossed by three narrow stone bridges.  The red glow from the lava deep in the chasm gave the place an eerie light.  Four troglodytes stood on the far side of the chasm, hurling javelins at the PCs.  Malus and Mace began returning fire with crossbows as Kane hurled a javelin he had captured at the lizards and rushed forward, intending to attack.

Trygvie's sleep spell took down most of the Trogs.  Kane ran across a bridge to pursue the last treoglodyte but the lizard man opened a secret door and fled.  The Monk opened the secret door as his companions crossed the chasm of fire.  Suddenly three large troglodytes were coming up the secret passage while eight smaller troglodytes came up the main hallway.  Kane, Philgo and Malus stood in the doorway of the secret passage while Mace ran at the swarm of smaller Trogs coming up the south tunnel.  Trygvie cast a sleep spell at the massed ranks of smaller Troglodytes and managed to take out about half of them.

Kane and Philgo crowded into the secret door and engaged the larger troglodytes.  Mace leapt into the massed ranks of the smaller troglodytes and began hacking left and right, their claws and teeth clanging against his armor.  Trygvie finished off the incapacitated troglodytes, rolling the last one into the fiery chasm.

The troglodytes in the secret passage proved tougher than expected.  One wounded Kane pretty badly with a javelin.  The largest of them all whacked Malus with an axe; the brave dwarf was so badly wounded that he withdrew to obtain a healing potion.  Philgo the priest stepped up to take his place and was so sorely wounded that he fell on the ground unconscious and began to bleed to death.  Several of the players were sickened by the awful smell that the trogs emitted from their scent glands.

After a very tough fight, the troglodytes were all defeated.  Philgo's life was saved by the timely administration of a heal potion.  Everyone except Trygvie was wounded.  The secret passage and southern passage led to a small cave room that had apparently been the chief's den and a room with a large stone bowl filled with some sort of soupy beer made from fish.  Mace attempted to contaminate the beer by sinking dead rats into the liquid; he probably just improved the taste.  The party found a gold and silver linked belt, some coins and some rock crystals that looked valuable.  None of this stuff radiated magic when Philgo cast his detect magic spell on it.

The group barricaded themselves into the chief's den cave for two days while they regained heal spells and cured their wounds.  During that time a swarm of giant rats and another small gang of troglodytes discovered them and attacked; both were defeated.

The adventure ends here.
