The characters arrived in the Village of Signpost/Svenson's Freehold on Moonday, the 15th of Aout.  Here they learned of the bounty being paid for Goblin ears by the Lord of Signpost, Sir Sven Svenson.  At the Red Lion Inn they met up with an elf named Eldor who offered to take them to a place where he knew that many goblins were hiding -- an abandoned structure of some kind north and east of the village.
The characters set out immeadiately.  Eldor led them to within a few miles of the goblin complex.  Thgey elected to spend the night and investigate in the morning when the goblins would probably have retired to avoid the daylight hours.  As they prepared for the night, they encountered a small goblin patrol.  They obtained a great many ears for Lord Svenny’s collection.
The next morning Eldor the elf and the hobbit Whisper set out to reconoiter the goblin stronghold.  Eldor was the only one who knew where the goblin fort was -- he pointed out some vine shrouded walls of an ancient fortification of some kind that the goblins were using.  Eldor and Whisper saw a hole in the wall that the goblins were using as an enterance/exit, several breaches in the ancinent walls and several crumbled parts of the fortifications.  The whole structure was so overgrown with vines and trees that if Eldor hadn’t known where it was, the party is likely to have passed it by.  One large chasm spewed steam and vapour.  Eldor and Whisper took a closer look at the chasm and discovered that the vapor and steam were from some sort of geothermal effect.  They rejoined the party and reported what had been seen.
After a short discussion, they elected to venture into one of the breaches in the walls that did not appear to be used by the goblins as an enterance.  The west wall had a large hole that the players entered.  Here they found themselves passing through a ten foot thick wall into a large room where the upper story and floor had fallen in, leaving the room open to the sky.  They poked arounds a bit, finding a cabinet filled with old clothes.
The players investigated a northern door and found themselves in a ruined tower.  Here they discovered a nest of giant centipedes.  They closed the door and debated what to do -- then a few poisonous snakes slithered out of the rubble.  They killed the snakes and burned the centipedes with fire and oil.
The players continued south through what appeared to be a ruined and roofless dining hall into an abandoned kitchen and another room of uncertain purpose with a stair leading down.  On these stairs they encountered three ghouls.  The ghouls were killed with the help of Eldor the Elf. The dwarf, Malus, discovered a sack of treasure in the rubble.
They descended the tunnel and discovered it connected to an underground warren of rooms.  After passing a hall and locked door adjacent to the steam geyser, they encountered and defeated a group of 12 skeleton guards within a mausoleum type room.  After the fierce battle, they returned to Signpost and Svenson’s Freehold to recover hitpoints and collect the bounty on the ears they had gathered thus far.
At the Red Lion’s Den, Philgo the Philgosopher tipped the staff generously with silver coins--- generosity seems to be one of his philosophies.  A very short dwarf with a red beard entered the bar with a huge bundle of Goblin ears.  Trombley the dwarf wore no armor -- only rough outdoorsman’s clothes and was armed with a  hammer and a dagger.  Trygvie the elf questioned the dwarf as to where he got all the ears; Trombley gruffly replied that he had slain the goblins up north on a hunting expedition in and around Wolf’s Head Pass.  He declined to accompany the PCs on their next expedition, saying that he preferred to work alone.
After the PCs had recovered and purchased more weapons, they returned to the Goblin fort.  They entered the same hole in the wall and went back down to the cellar where they entered a diamond shaped crypt  room.  A skeletal figure in a tattered robe lay on a slab in the center of the room and other bones scattered around the floor; the players could see the glint of gold and silver from the skeletal figure on the slab.  They began to enter the room and 4 ghouls lept out of side corridors at them.  Malus the Dwarf and Mace Blackstar were paralyzed almost immeadiately.  Whisper the hobbit, Trygvie the Mage and Eldor the Elf defeated the ghouls; Eldor killed three out of the four.  They then dragged their paralyzed comrades back into the other room to recover.  Trygvie inspected the figure of the slab and returned to his comrades with a valuable looking gold necklace.
After the paralyzed creatures recovered, the party explored down a hall to the north and discovered a stairs leading up.  Whisper pressed his ear against the two doors but heard nothing.

Here ends the session.
